Apple Building Tablets?

Posted by jagadish jain On August - 28 - 2009

500x_mac-tablet-concept-2

One of the source claimed that Apple is working on 10-inch tablets and also 13″ and 15″ model, all of them running on Mac OS X. The source claimed that this touchscreen prototype, which is built by Apple is made of aluminum and is in the the shape of i-phone. The source also claimed that Apple’s tablet is built in China and runs on Mac OS X 10.5. But the source is still unclear whether it is built for demonstration or as a production unit. Call it a rumor or a secret. It’s good to have a mobile gadget that fits in your pocket, so I think Apple will have to think twice before delivering the 13″ and 15″ models.

india-10-dollar-laptop

The world’s cheapest laptop was unveiled and demonstrated by one of the ministers in India. The laptop is unbelievably priced at Rs.500 ($ 10). The world’s cheapest laptop was produced by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Vellore Institute of Technology. The nano laptop is christened as “Sakshat” which mean “before your eyes”. This laptop is expected to bridge the gadget gap between rich and poor in the country. The laptop was specially designed for students living in rural India. It was built keeping in view the students, who wants to improve their computing skills, but cannot afford to buy normal laptop.

One of the senior official said that the laptop is smaller than the normal laptop and  requires some more tuning . It is expected to explode in the market within the next six months.  This small laptop has 2GB memory and wireless internet connectivity (wi-fi), though  its other features are not yet revealed. It is hard to imagine this laptop with Microsoft application.

The $10 laptop is seen as India’s response to XO and Intel’s Classmate, which are priced at $188 and $300 respectively. The world’s Cheapest laptop has already created a buzz in laptop industry across world.

The critics strongly opposes calling it a Laptop and rather refer it as a mere computing device. According to MeriNews report: ” It is a computing device which stores information which can be accessed by a normal laptop and has no screen, no keyboard, is 10 inches long and 5 inches wide”.

The world’s Cheapest Car” Nano”  by Tata from India and now the world’s Cheapest Laptop…. I wonder how Indian firms manage to cope up with the cheap price.

Rock Hard!

Posted by jagadish jain On August - 23 - 2009

radiotopIts not a Rock. Seriously its not a Rock. Its a Rock Radio. Yes man! Its a Rock Radio. But, yes its made of cement.

” My Rock Radio is number two in my cement-audio-series. It started of being a very nice rectangular brick shape. Then I found out that a thick layer of cement shields the radio from actually receiving radio waves. With my “Now it doesn’t work anyway” philosophy, I took a big hammer and created this Flintstones look, and the radio works!”
This is what the creator of the Rock Radio, Guus Oosterbaan had to say
If you a die hard Rock music fan then next time make sure you have this gadget to Rock Real Hard.

Canon’s PowerShot S90 Lacks HD Video

Posted by jagadish jain On August - 21 - 2009

canon S90

The design of Canon’s pocketable S90 is exactly what one wants in the point-and-shoot. It has a black metal finish to give it a rich look. S90 is available in black and black only (we hope you like black color). It has a clicky control ring around the lens, which can be used to adjust almost any setting -it can change the ISO, zoom or focus. The S90 has a fast F/2.0 lens. The S90 have the same sensitivity sensor as Canon G11 used. S90 is priced at $430 and is cheaper than G11 which is priced at $500. So if you have G11 and S90 on the table, I think you would go smartly with S90. The bad part of this gadget is that it lacks HD video, just equipped with standard VGA. It seems to me like S90 is canon’s response to Panasonic’s LX3.

PS3 Slim

ps3 slim
Its slim, smaller and holds many unexpected surprises. The PS3 slim has a a matte finish which wont let get your fingertips on the console. The PS3 slim has the same shape as that of original PS3 but is noticeably lighter. For slim Sony didn’t think of bringing down the PSU outside the body like Xbox 360. No power brick. Because of the slim size Sony reduced the USB ports to 2 and there is no card reader. Also the slim version is not stable in vertical position unlike your previous fat one. The power and eject touch button have changed to actual push buttons.

When Transformer 2 game was run on the slim and the original version console, the disc drive was louder in the slimmer. The slim got somewhere between 25-33 dB and the fat got 22-30 dB.

Well, talking about the good part: the good part is that it has got matted finish and the bad part is that it has reduced vents.500x_500x_slimstand

As I have said earlier in the post that the slim is unstable in vertical position, a special stand is available for this purpose. Its nor free, but is priced at $24 , 8% of the price of console ($300). Is it worth that ?

Let’s hope Sony take a strong head over the slim bad side.

500x_DigitalBBQTongs

Do you like having your favourite meat by Barbeque or Barbecue (whatever you call it. Both are right), then here is a way you can spice up your food with the Digital BBQ Tongs. This is no normal tong you use while barbeque, it is a digital one which has a built-in sensor to track the internal temperature of the meat you are cooking. It alarms, flashes LED light when it thinks your streak is ready.

The best thing about this gadget is that it will serve you a better meat. And the worst part is that you will be disappointed to know its price. It requires two AAA batteries and is priced at $40 approx.

Ohhhh Noooo…

Here Comes The World’s Fastest Browser

Posted by jagadish jain On August - 14 - 2009

chrome4.0

Google Chromium 4.0, the pre-alpha version of Chrome is fastest browser in world both on PC and Mac OS X, confirms a test. Though it scores and impressive and incredible speed it is still crashy and buggy. When benchmarking Chrome 4.0 it recorded a good score. It completed Sun Spider JavaScript benchmark in 657 ms. It showed that it is 34% faster than Safari 4.0.3, which scored 886ms on the same 2.0GHz Intel PC. Firefox and  Opera10 Beta3 scored 1508ms and 5958ms respectively. That means the Chrome 4.0 is twice as fast as Firefox.

Chrome 4.0 has themes and skins that universally supports across almost all platforms, which give it a different and nice look than the previous version.

Chrome 4.0 best supports Adobe Flash, ironically the previous version didnt support Adobe flash on OS X, meaning Google’s own youtube was not supported.

Well, if Google eliminates the bugs and give it more extensions than it can be challenging to other popular browsers like Firefox.
